Please make sure that all children have a PE kit in school. FS1 children need only have pumps. We also advise that all children have a spare set of trousers (or a skirt if you prefer) and underwear in their PE bag as some children can become upset if they are changed into spare clothes that are not their own. At this time of year lots of children fall whilst outside and need dry mud-free clothes to change into.
This week we will be looking at the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen. In literacy we will be going on our own ‘bear hunt’ around school learning new words to describe the different obstacles we meet along the way.
FS2 will be learning all about the phonemes or, ur, ow and oi ; whilst FS1 will be listening out for the sound ‘t’. In mathematics, we will be going on a money hunt to help our counting skills and coin recognition.
Outside we will be exploring which instruments suit which environment they meet in the story as well as making dens, exploring the areas met through bowls of soil, water, snow and sticks and making wax rubbings of areas of our playground.
How you can support your child in their learning
Nursery -Keep practicing your child’s name and ask them to write their name on any drawings they complete at home.
Reception – Continue to practice letter formation and segmenting words they are familiar with.

We do PE on
If you have any bubble wrap or other similar packaging, old rolls of wallpaper, toilet roll tubes (which have been microwaved for 20 seconds), kitchen roll tubes, large cardboard boxes or balls of wool we would be very grateful.
If your child is in FS2 and 5 years old and you wish them to have milk please ensure you have paid for it on the Cool milk website.
Please can children only have water in their water bottles as juice or flavoured/fizzy water raises the sugar level in their mouth every time they have a sip and that causes cavities. Water bottles are checked and changed to water if necessary. Thank you for your support.
