To start our week we will all be dressing as Victorians to celebrate our school’s 175th birthday. In Foundation we will be seated in rows to practice letter formation on black boards with chalks and then learning about toys the Victorian children had before making our own peg dolly. From Tuesday, we will be exploring the world of Percy the Park Keeper by Nick Butterworth as well as weaving in the theme of ‘Respect’, which is this year’s message from the Anti-Bullying Alliance. During the week we will be taking part in various activities to help us understand what respect actually is and how we show it to others, ultimately learning to respect their views even when they are different to their own. The idea is that the children choose to respect others views rather than judge them negatively because they are not the same as their own.
As ever, we are in need of some items – any old hats, scarves and gloves for dressing up would be gratefully accepted. Spare wellies are always useful, boxes for junk modelling, dolls and dolls clothes, plastic tubing or guttering.
